Zhengs left for China

Well Fan and Peter just left.  Lately, my blog posts are so rare that they seem to only occur at major points. I suppose you could call this a major point in the scope of this year at least.  They are headed back to Fuzhou until August 31 at which point they will return.  I am going to miss them a lot and I regret that I won't be able to see them on a daily basis anymore.  I have gained so much knowledge in this past year and I'm going to miss having them around. (Wait, I've already said that, right?)  It needs to be said multiple times.
The baby of course went with them.  I took pictures of them as they were packing up.  I helped them get the bags to the MetroCar.  I reminded them to take everything off of the porch.  A few minutes ago I heard someone bounding up the steps and I ran out to the stairwell hoping they forgot something.  Nothing.  I suppose my imagination must have gotten the better of me.  Wishful thinking perhaps.  Well they should arrive within two days and I will email them now and be ready to skype them later.

My trip to the country part two

This is a continuation of the story that I started yesterday.  I decided to break it up because it was so long.

Well we drove into Middleton's and I noticed a couple that looked about retirement age.  They advised me that there were no pre-picked berries and that I would have to pick the raspberries myself.  Obviously I was not going to do this in the rain so I decided to buy some pie pumpkins and some green peppers.  The green peppers that I picked out were 3 for a dollar and the pie pumpkins that I picked out were 1 dollar each.  I actually cut up one of the pumpkins today.  It was delicious.

After Middleton's, we headed back to Cook's Farm Dairy to pick up a half gallon of ice cream to take home with us.  Both my parents and I ended up buying a half gallon of Pumpkin Crunch.  That ice cream was the fluffiest ice cream that I have ever tasted.  Well after that we were going to head home, but I suggested that we drive around for a bit, just to enjoy the drive.

We passed a road that I recognized the name of, and I remarked upon that, and my dad said that he also remembered that name.  We turned down the road and realized that some friends of ours live on that road.  We had a brief debate in the car whether to drive up their driveway and ring the doorbell and ultimately decided to do so.  I got out of the car and rang their doorbell and sure enough the wife was home.  She invited us in, and we asked to make sure that we were not being a nuisance by just dropping in unannounced(we live so far away from them that it's rare that we see them).  She said that she was just reading a book and that we should come in.  So we came in and chatted for a good hour.  Her husband and son came home at that point and we explained that we were in the neighborhood.

We learned from the son that some mutual friends of ours were also going to be briefly stopping by, so someone went out for pizza and we had an impromptu pizza party at their house.  Our mutual friends eventually had to leave, and we stayed around to chat.  We had a great time until it became time to head home.  By that time it was after 9, so it really was a full day out in the country.  Since I don't get out of my apartment that often, I really cherish little trips that those.

I'll keep you posted on my activities.

My Trip to the country

So I have been bugging my parents for a while now to take me to Cook's Dairy Farm in Ortonville, MI.  Since I don't drive as I'm sure you know, I rely on family and friends to take me places.  It's annoying but as the French say "C'est la vie!".  I asked my mom if I we could go to both Cook's and an apple orchard that I had found, and naturally she said pick one or the other, so I picked Cook's.  The reason is that there is an apple orchard just one mile from Cook's, so we were able to go to both.  The apple orchard that I originally picked to go to was something like 20 miles away.  I'm pretty happy that I was able to find this one.

So after we went to Cook's we stopped by the apple orchard which was a lot of fun.  Unfortunately, it started to rain while we were inside the apple orchard(Ashton's).  When it was time to go, we scurried to the car and began to leave.  I remember having heard about a berry farm nearby so I inquired about one.  I was told that it was called Middleton's and it was just a few miles away.

I got directions, and we headed off.  We drove for a few miles, and then we weren't sure where to go because the directions that the lady in Ashton's weren't totally clear.  Since my dad's Buick Lucerne is equipped with OnStar, we hit the blue OnStar button and I told the advisor that we were looking for a berry farm in the area.  He asked if I had the name of it.  I told him that I couldn't remember the name.  He told us that we were literally right next to it.

Stay tuned for part two of this story tomorrow.

My Spring Break

I spent most of my spring break doing pretty much nothing.  I watched a bunch of movies, caught up on much needed sleep, and hung out with friends.  I also chatted extensively with multiple casting directors about appearing in films this summer.  I thought that would be a fun way to spend my summer.  More on that later.

Up north for the last time

Well I'm going to get on the road and head up north with my family any minute now, so I thought that I'd scribble this post down and type it when I got time.  This will likely be the last time that I'll ever see my dad's mother's vacation home in Harbor Springs.  I'm so depressed about it.  It will probably be a stressful trip since we're taking home a lot of the stuff in the home.  I cherish many good memories there.  I'll talk more later Got to go.  Read the archives!!!!

Late Night Posting

Though I am absolutely aware that it is 1:30 at night, I want to type a post about vacation. In two days, I'll be back at school, and I'll continue to do all of the mindless busywork that my teachers assign to me. I have to say that it's hard to even think at this hour let alone type correctly. I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors that may occur in this post because of the late hour at which I am working. I could have gone to bed much earlier, but I have chosen to go to bed now because I want to be able to write this post. I want to talk about some personal troubles that I am currently undergoing, but I don't want everyone to know about them, so I am simply not going to speak of them in this outlet.

Mrs. Robinson 2008

OK guys, here's the scoop. It's 10 o'clock at night, and I am home alone. As you know, my parents are in the Bahamas but my sister and I are staying at home with a family friend watching us. Somehow my sister Mrs. Robinson(the family friend), that they should go to Big Boy's restaurant at 10 PM!!! So they were supposed to get home at 8:30 when Mrs. Robinson got back from her meeting. Instead here it is 10 PM and they are going to Big Boy's. Then I asked Mrs. Robinson if she could swing by and pick up some pecans at the grocery store. She replied, "Oh Lizzie told me that all of the grocery stores were closed." I wanted to laugh at her gullibility. It's nothing against Mrs. Robinson personally, because I love her to death, but I have to ask; what the hell is going through her head?!?

Update

Hey everybody. My parents are gone for this week. That means that my sister and I are stuck with my mom's family friend Mrs. Robinson, who let's just say is not my favorite person. She's great to visit, but I hate it when my parents stick us with her for a full week. It's monday, and I already miss my parents. I don't know what I'll do when I go to college. :) Oh well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I was super lucky because I didn't have homework today, so I could go home immediately and check Facebook, email and update the blog. I desperately need to write more, but grades come first. Lots and lots of people continue to ask me about the now defunct podcast, and I have decided to just ask the people to instead frequent the blog. I am having a fun time tonight because I have some free time, and I am definitely going to make good use of it. I plan to write some new posts and make comments on current events and society as a whole. Stay tuned!

Our 2 day "vacation"

So far, it hasn't been a vacation. My 15 year old sister(yes there is a one in front of that 5) just has to watch Spongebob Squarepants and Disney Channel. How old are we??? Anyway we're crammed into a spot smaller than Birchwood and I feel as though I'm at my wits end. Unlike a normal family, we can't go on a regular vacation. We have to change plans and find somewhere to stay because we were going to stay at my grandmother's house up there, but naturally she has to get a tooth pulled, so we have to completely change our plans. Then on the day that we were supposed to leave for vacation(today), my dad gets a work email, and we have to push back our departure two hours. We get here at 3:30, and while my mom is checking out the apartment, my sister, my dad and I are bringing up the stuff. Of course the minute we get somewhat settled, my mom decides to start up about how I should go walking around town. When it comes close to dinnertime I assume that we'll go out somewhere, but of course my mom has other plans. Insisting on going cheap even on "vacation" she decides that we will cook our own meals and my sister decides on tacos. It wasn't like any other of us had any choice. So they went out and bought that. They just got back, and this is where we are...oops, my dad told me to pick something up. I'll be right back. :) OK back. I'll let you know if I actually have fun on this vacation.

Haven't Written in a while...

Hi everyone. I'm really sorry that I haven't written. I have not been up to much. I am just lying down right now. I got back from vacation the monday after I wrote that last post. There is a possibility that we'll go back up north for a few days. I'm praying that we do. I'm even willing to give up internet for that time. It's not like I've been using the internet for much anyway. I haven't checked my email in so long, my inbox is probably overflowing. Anyway I think I'll check it. l8r. OH BY THE WAY, on another note we have to wear these stupid "lanyards" around our necks. They have ID on them. It's going to be terrible. What do you think?? Leave a comment!

Vacation day 1

Hey everyone. I'm on vacation as I write this. No, I'm not a posh resort or on a relaxing cruise... I'm in Harbor Springs. I wish you all could see me right now. We're at the Birchwood Inn. It's a motel-type place. We got a two room suite. It's nice, because I get my own room, and Lizzie, mom, and dad share the other. I gave up the luxury of a good night's sleep. The bed is an ancient futon that is just terrible to sleep on. But I digress. I wanted to tell you all that I'm having a wonderful time right now. Because it's so late, I'm locked out of the main building, and I am right outside, so I can get the wifi to post this. I have been to Turkey's a local restaurant. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner but it's not like a typical restaurant. They have very friendly staff. I was chatting with one of the employees, who goes to the local high school Harbor Springs High, or just Harbor High. Anyway, they have like 300 kids in their entire high school. We have 300 in our grade! I want to talk about Harbor. When I asked the girl what there is to do up here, she said nothing. I thought, wow nothing on Grosse Pointe either. She apparently goes to Petoskey, a neighboring city. Petoskey has a theatre, so naturally, it is more interesting. Because I'm not publishing this post immediately, I would like to say it's 11:59:54 PM on Thursday. Anyway I would like to say that I'm having a good time here.

GMA

Good Morning America! (and good morning to all of our international viewers) I just have to say sorry for not writing enough. I will be able to keep you updated on my vacation, and maybe I can get to my goal of thirty posts this month. Like I said earlier, it's writing month! Anyway I'm sleepy, but I'm going on vacation in Harbor Springs starting Wednesday night, so I'll try to keep you updated. Thank god for this vacation. It is definately needed. :)
