Love and Other Disasters

I'm watching Love and Other Disasters.  I'm three minutes and fifty four seconds in, and I'm already sick of the fact that Britney Murphy is switching between an American accent and a phony British accent.  It's like she can't decide between the two.  I like Britney Murphy, but I'm sorry, some actors/actresses should not be cast in movies if they can't convince the audience of their nationality.  One minute she's American and the next minute, she's British?  Give me a break!

Julie and Julia Movie Review

It's been a while since I've done a movie review, but here goes... Julie and Julia is about two women.  Julia Child who writes a cookbook called Mastering the Art of French Cooking and her protege, Julie Powell a woman from Queens Borough, New York City, New York.  Julie decides early on in her story that she will make every recipe in Julia's book in one year and will blog about her adventure.  Her blog was posted on Salon.com  I'm not sure if it's still there.  She turned it into a best-selling book.  Why would she or for that matter, her publisher, want people to be able to access the material for free when they should be paying for it?

Movie Review: The Pink Panther 2

I found The Pink Panther 2 to be a light hearted family comedy.  Jacques Clouseau is a detective in France that became famous for saving the Pink Panther diamond.  His methods are... questionable at best, but his results speak for themselves.  If you are looking for a serious, 'think' picture, don't look to this movie, but if you are interested in taking the kids to a fun filled movie look no further than this one.  It's in theaters now, but you should wait until it comes to DVD.

My Objective With Movie Reviews

So I'm sure that you're wondering why in the world I would write all of the movie reviews that I'm writing.  The reason is that there is just not that much going on with my life right now.  I guess there is enough for a post on most days, but I want to post once a day, everyday.  I have lots of movie reviews for use and I would like to get them posted, so whenever I don't have something current, I will put in a review.

Movie Review: 17 Again

There really is not much going on right now, so I want to get a bunch of movie reviews in.  17 Again stars Zac Efron and Matthew Perry.  It's the story of a guy who is thirty-seven, but is unhappy about the way that his life has turned out.  He wishes that he could do it over again.  In a magical moment, he becomes 17 again which is where the title comes from.  He enrolls at his kids' school and helps them out.  He helps his son get onto the basketball team and get his daughter out of a bad relationship.  It is truly a great movie. 4.2/5

Movie Review: Into The Blue 2

I recently viewed a cool movie called Into The Blue 2.  It was all about SCUBA diving.  There is some violence, so you should be aware of that going in.  I would give it a 4/5.  The cinematography was spectacular.

Movie Review: Never Back Down

Never Back Down is a movie about a high school boy that lost his father in a drunk driving accident.  He moves to a new town in Florida and he gets beaten up by a jock that runs an underground fight club.  He joins a gym and trains and eventually beats the kid.  WARNING: This movie contains multiple scenes of graphic violence, and I do not recommend this movie to anyone who is sensitive to violence as one of the main themes is fighting.  I give the movie a 3/5

Juno

Hey guys. I just have to talk about the movie that I just saw. It's called Juno. If you've been living in a cave for the last year, you've noticed the latest cinematic craze called Juno. It's about a sixteen year old girl that gets pregnant. The movie deals with teen pregnancy, inter-marital affairs, and other controversial issues that affect society right now. The movie has been very well-recieved by the critics. For example, Roger Ebert claims that Juno is "The Best Picture of the Year." He also says that it is "A Fresh, Unusually Intelligent Comedy." The Motion Picture Association of America has given Juno a PG-13 rating for "Mature, Thematic Material, Sexual Content and Language". The film stars Ellen Page as Juno MacGuff(the pregnant teen), Jennefer Garner as the adoptive mom-to-be, and a few other minor people. You can find this movie whereever DVD's are sold. Update

OK, so as you know, by now my parents are back. I'm not going anywhere for spring break. Just staying at home. RELAXATION. I can just feel it pulsing through me and it feels great! I'm really sorry that I haven't written in a while. I have been sooooo busy. I got to see Charlie Bartlett a week and a half before it comes out. It comes out tomorrow, but I got to see it last Wednesday. It was really good, I recommend it! 4/5 I can't believe that it's been 9 days since I last wrote. I also got to see Jumper. It is really good, I recommend it. I'd give it a 3/5. It has some... not really scary moments, but more surprising moments, that keep you on your feet. That's it for now, but I'll keep you posted on my life. By the way, I've gotten a lot of sleep on this vacation, so I'm super excited about that.

My Review of Meet The Spartans

I went to go see Meet The Spartans last Friday, and I thought that it would be fun to write a post reviewing it. I have to be perfectly honest, I didn't have high expectations going into the movie. Pete actually talked me into seeing the movie. Do you remember Epic Movie? It came out in 2007 and basically parodied all of the major movies of 2006. Meet The Spartans is by the same people, and it's a parody of all of the major movies of 2007. A lot of Hollywood considers that type of movie to be trashy, but the rest of the country doesn't seeing as Epic Movie did well in the box office, and so far Meet The Spartans has been doing well. Meet The Spartans is mostly a parody of the movie 300, but they also make fun of the new Grand Theft Auto video-game, NBC's Deal or No Deal TV show, Borat and others. I have to say that I recommend it to people that have a relatively open mind. It has a lot of vulgarities. I would also recommend it to people that love comedy. It was definitely very funny! The only thing that I didn't like was the theatre experience. When I usually go to the theatre, I am able to watch the movie, because the other patrons are usually respectful and quiet, but unfortunately this wasn't the case at Meet The Spartans.

The Bucket List

If you've noticed, I've been seeing a lot of movies lately. I just went out and saw The Bucket List last weekend, and I would like to comment on this inspiring movie. First of all, the movie is about a wealthy CEO of a healthcare company. The CEO gets cancer and has to share a hospital room with a mechanic who also has cancer. The mechanic creates "The Bucket List" which is a list of things that he wants to do before he kicks the bucket(dies). The wealthy CEO ends up discovering this list and they go on an around-the-world trip visiting lots of interesting places. I highly recommend this movie because it makes you think, but it doesn't make you think too hard.

Juno

Hi. Me again. I wanted to talk about the extremely controversial new teen film called Juno. It's about a girl that gets pregnant and decides to keep the baby. I have not personally seen the film, but I would like to go see it. It's a comedy, and I have heard nothing but good things about the movie. The teen actress who stars in the movie is even up for a Golden Globe. I might be going to the theatre with Peter tomorrow, so if I go, and if we decide to see it, I will have high expectations.

American Pie 5: Beta House

Hi guys. I just finished watching the new American Pie. It's called American Pie Presents Beta House. If you liked American Pie, American Pie 2, and American Wedding, you will be sorely disappointed, as I was by this poorly done spin-off. I felt that the acting was absolutely sub-par and I wanted to comment about the storyline as well. I believe that the storyline too closely resembles that of American Pie 4. There were the first three movies, and then they spun it off where Stifler's cousin goes to college. I loved the first three, but numbers 4 and 5 have just tarnished the name of this comedic series. If Fox plans to release a sixth American Pie, I cannot say that I will have high expectations.

Surgery

Hey guys. It's official. I have my 'surgery' on January 18. Jeez, I can't wait. That's a lie, I can wait. Well, I shouldn't because it's dangerous to wait for that. Anyway I'm a little nervous, and that new movie about the guy that undergoes heart surgery while supposedly under anesthetic doesn't do anything to calm me. In the movie, the guy is knocked out but he can still feel everything that is going on. The problem is that he can't just say, "Excuse me, but can you stop?" That would totally suck!

Ratatouille

I just wanted to tell you all about what I think of the new Pixar film Ratatouille. I loved it. It's out on DVD, and I would give it a 4.1/5. The plot and animation were very good, however I did not like the way the movie ended.

My Time Filming Literally

Just in case you didn't read the previous post I wrote before the filming, Literally is a biblical satire about a guy that convinces a group of churchgoers to take the bible literally. Anyway I was an extra. It was so much fun. We filmed in downtown Detroit near the Wayne State University campus. The filming was a lot of fun, but I had to sit in a church pew for like three hours watching the same two scenes being practiced and then filmed over and over again. It was very educational though because I learned all about how the movies are filmed. I was sitting behind some of the speaking parts, so I'm sure that I will end up in the final cut of the movie. I am so excited because I will get to go to a special cast/crew screening, and I'll get a free copy of the film on DVD. I also got to meet a bunch of cool people. I met Chloe Greenfield and her mom. You might or might not recognize Chloe from the movie 8 Mile. She played Eminem's daughter. You might have also recognized her from the TV show ER. She plays John Stamos's daughter. To be honest, when I saw her on the cast list, and saw that she did all of those major parts, I expected her to be your stereotypical spoiled child star. Instead I was surprised to find out that she was an unspoiled, regular girl. Her mom was so funny too. They were both very nice, and I look forward to seeing the entire cast and crew again at the screening.

Fast Food Nation

I just saw Fast Food Nation and let me tell you, it was the sickest, most disturbing movie that I have ever seen. Frankly I think that with the amount of blood and gore in that movie, it should be banned from distribution. It was rated "R", but let me tell you, I had to fast forward through a lot of the movie because they showed all of the graphic details of how the cattle were slaughtered. The movie should be rated "NC-17" or maybe even "X" This movie is sickening, and I sincerely hope that you don't ever have to watch it. I won't be getting much sleep tonight. It was definately not advertised as a violent movie. I was appalled and disgusted

Casting Call Y'all

Hey everybody. I recently answered a casting call to be an extra in a short film called Literally. I am so excited to be a part of the project. I'll probably only have my hair in the shot for like three seconds. Even so, I will be so excited because it's the first project that I have worked on that isn't a no-budget thing.
