Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas.  I hope that you have a happy holiday season!  I know that I have not been writing very much.  Since September I have turned 20(Nov) and have been doing a lot of studying.  My New Year's resolution is really to make a commitment to working harder and writing more here.

First Post of the New Year

Well happy new year to everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday.  It was my first Christmas and New Year in the apartment.  I was apart from my family, which was pretty strange.  I suppose I had a good time.  I'll be going back to school on Friday, but more on that later.

December 11 party

Well, my dad hasn't really been in a good mood recently.  I'm not sure why.  I've noticed it for about a week now.  There is a December 11th swim team party that my parents are hosting for the holidays, but at this point I'm really not sure if I want to go to it.  I'm not sure that my dad is capable of behaving civilized right now.  I have a feeling that he's going to blow up about something at the party, and I'm afraid that if I go, he'll expect me to be the one cleaning dishes while he socializes and talks about how much time he spent preparing for the party.  I only say that because it's what happened last year.  And when I tell him that I am a guest not the host, he say yes you are not the host.  I'll then point out that it is the host's responsibility to clean up after the guests in a situation like this and he'll get angry.  I know that he's going to blow up about something, so to avoid the stress of the pending affair, I'm hereby choosing to avoid it entirely.

Black Friday Deals

Well one of the things that I enjoy most about Thanksgiving week is Black Friday. No, it's not the day where people mourn the weight that they gained the day before. It’s the biggest day of the year for retailers, and it is traditionally the day that they go into the black ink (meaning that they become profitable). Because of this they throw out killer deals that are often the best of the shopping season. I plan to hi Wal-Mart for some of their deals. I would not normally go to Wal-Mart, but they have some deals that a logical consumer simply cannot resist. They have GPS units for $60 instead of $160. KitchenAid stand mixers for $139 instead of $389. They also have over 100 DVD titles for just $2. I’ll be heading over to BigLots as well because they have a few deals that are too good to resist. I’ll let you all know what I bought tomorrow.

Looking Forward to Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving is going to be a little different.  We are going over to my parents' friends house.  They are inviting the husband's brother's family as well as the wife's sister's family.  Then there is us.  I'm not so sure that I'm looking forward to the grilled turkey.  It doesn't sound too appitizing.  My parents agreed to bring a honeybaked ham.  My sister is very adament about her dislike of turkey saying "I don't eat turkey."  I however enjoy turkey; I'm just not sure that I'll enjoy grilled turkey.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Christmas Day 2008

Hey everybody,  I got some interesting gifts this year.  I got some Mitch Albom books, some shirts from Target, and a CD case.  To be perfectly honest, I wasn't really happy with the gifts this year.  The only thing that I really loved was a DVD.  It was the final season (season 8) of That 70's show.

Haven't Posted in a while, so this'll be long

I'm sorry guys.  I've been extremely busy with everything.  I've been working like a dog at the Grosse Pointe News, and wouldn't ya know it, my first article was scrapped. Oh well.  Anyway, I wanted to tell you all that I'm pretty excited to hopefully get back to writing on this darn thing pretty soon.  I'm loving most of my classes, although the grades that I'm getting aren't what I hoped they would be.  I'm a little nervous about the end of first quarter.  It's tomorrow.  I will try to write this weekend, because I don't think that I have a lot going on.  My parents had a party last weekend, so I was totally unable to write then.  Thuis week has just flown by, and I apologize for now writing.  I'm perticularly worried about my co-op grade.  It was a 100%, but it just dropped.  I honestly have no idea why.  I turned in all of my time sheets on time, and I turned in the written evaluation.  OK it was one day late, but that still doesn't explain my HUGE grade drop.  I'm nervous about applying to colleges.  I heard some people talking about getting their acceptence letters back from colleges.  I'm not proud to say that I haven't even applied anywhere yet.  AAAAH.  I hope to start this weekend.  So halloween is tomorrow, and that'll be interesting.  I'll have to watch the house tonight.  I have a feeling that someone will try to egg it or something.  It's Devil's Night tonight.  On another note, have you been following the crazy financial crisis.  This is definately going to go down into the history books right next to the Great Depression.  It's a little odd that this would happen right next to election time, but what are you going to do, right?  God, I hope Barack doesn't win.  I don't like McCain, but I absolutely hate Barack.  I wish that he'd just go back to Kenya, and leave us Americans alone. So for people who have written college essays, I want to ask you all something: How long did each essay take you?  I'm not sure if the colleges that I plan to apply to require essays for admission, but I'm curious about how much time people are spending.  Feel free to leave a comment about how much time you have spent.  I'd be interested to know.  This so far has just been one long ramble.  I don't really think that I'm going to even bother putting this into paragraphs, because it works better as a free thought sort of thing.  I'm really liking these long posts.  I'd better get back to work though.  I have calendar stuff that I have to do, and then I have to go to bed.  I'll talk more tomorrow.

Happy New Year 2008

I just want to take this opportunity to announce the New Year. Yes I am aware that I am forty-five hours late in the announcement, but whatever. Let's hope that 2008 is a great year. Some of my New Year's Resolutions include:
  • Raising my grades to look more favorable in college apps.
  • Saving more money and spending less money.
  • OK, that's all I have for now, but let's face it; I'm not about to single-handedly find world peace OK?
Jeez.

Unaccompanied Minors

This movie looks really funny. It's about kids that are left in an airport over X-mas, and they seem to have some funny adventures.

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to say Happy Holidays! How are you? I hope that you are all doing well! I am watching The Breakfast Club right now, it's kind of sad. The jock is talking about why he got the detention. Appearently he humiliated a kid so horribly that the kid had to go home. He did it because of the pressure that his father put of him. I have had a great thanksgiving break so far. This is my chance to talk about everything becuase I have extra time.
