Long Time, No Post

Well it's been a long time since I've posted.  I have noticed that since I began mico-blogging on Facebook, I really haven't used BOJ as much to express my thoughts.  I want to continue doing that.  I have just gotten used to doing less and less in terms of posting.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas.  I hope that you have a happy holiday season!  I know that I have not been writing very much.  Since September I have turned 20(Nov) and have been doing a lot of studying.  My New Year's resolution is really to make a commitment to working harder and writing more here.

Neglect and the job hunt

I'm sorry.  Frankly to those of you who check this on a regular basis, I have been failing you for a few months now.  I have been very infrequent with m postings on here.  I enjoy writing, but I have been pretty busy with the apartment and school.  I'm looking for a job right now, so that's taking up time as well.  The problem is that I need a job that doesn't involve food service and is preferably in an office environment.  I'm not looking for a job that pays under $10 per hour, and it's not going to be something demeaning like standing outside of a business jumping up and down to get peoples' attention.  I have been enjoying fall.  Check out my post about my trip to Cook's Dairy Farm, Ashton's Orchard, and Middleton's Berry Farm.

Design Changes

Just wanted to write a quick post about some design changes.  Because of the new layout system, I can very easily change the background image of the blog.  Unfortunately I cannot, at this time, choose my own background image.  I will be changing the background image frequently, so stay tuned.  To stay informed, you can bookmark this blog.  It's pretty easy.  On a Mac use the combination of "Command + D".  On a PC use "CTRL + D".  Stay tuned!

New design

Blogger has officially done away with the old templates.  They have a new, highly customizable template designer.  I chose picture window, because with it I can choose from hundreds of beautiful pictures like the one that is up as I write this.  As I write this post, I have a picture of a cliff on the blog.  It looks like the English countryside, not that I've ever been there.

My how to presentation

So for speech class, I have to make a presentation on how to do something.  I chose making a blog using Blogger.  I just finished it.  It's interesting.  The PowerPoint is a skeleton of the presentation.  I was going to put the PowerPoint on here, but I'm not quite sure how to do that.

New Template.

Because of some major issues with my old layout, I have changed the template.  This new template may have some issues at first, but I am hoping to iron them out.

Screwed up layout

So the layout of this blog is totally screwed up.  There should be a grey column that goes down the entire length of the blog so that it creates contrast.  It is not doing that right now, but I AM working on it.  I'm exploring my options including but not limited to changing the layout of the blog.  I really don't want to do that because I really like the blue layout.  I know that this is probably really boring that I'm actually bothering you, the reader, with my ramblings about  the blog's look and feel.  I have tried to turn my blog into a functional homepage for myself over the years, and frankly, I'm still working on it.  I'll continue to work on it.  Later guys.  Read the archives!

Amazon Associates

Hey guys.  I wanted to talk a little about a new feature on my site.  It's called Amazon Associates.  I have an Amazon.com box on the top right hand of my site.  If you search for a product you want and then go and buy it at Amazon, I get four percent of the purchase price.  It helps me to pay for certain features that could be added to the site to make it more functional for users like yourself, assuming that anyone actually reads this!  You can also just click on the Amazon logo below the search bar to go straight to Amazon.com  So the next time you think to go to Amazon, go through Billhonlinejournal.  Thanks!  And when you get to Amazon from your computer, go ahead and bookmark the affiliate site.  It will do exactly the same thing as Amazon.com because it is still amazon.com, but it just allows me to make a small commission.

The other cool thing about Amazon.com's affiliate feature is that I can add products to the site and link them back to Amazon for people to purchase.  Just like this Motorama book that I'd love to have, but can't afford until I make enough money from the affiliate network to purchase it.

New Greeting Cards

It's come to my attention that the customization options for my greeting cards are extremely slim. Therefore I have removed the old images and replaced them with new ones from MacDesktops.com. I hope that you enjoy the tranquil nature shots more than the vintage macintosh computer pictures that I had on there before. In case you are unfamiliar with my greeting cards, please scroll down the column on the right of this posting. Try them out. They're pretty fun!

One Month

Guys I'm sorry that it's been a month since my last posting.  I finished the summer class at Macomb and I've decided to do a fall semester there after comparing prices of pre-reqs at Macomb versus the same courses at Wayne.  It was way less expensive at Macomb so I'm headed there.  The savings should be great!

Sifting Through Old Posts

I was recently going back through old blog posts and I found out that there was a bunch of stuff that is saved on the blog that wasn't actually published.  I have gone through and published those posts so that everything should be online.  I would love for you to take a look through the old posts to see some of the things that are new.  You will notice that they say they were posted on the days that I originally wrote them.  I wanted it to be that way.

Two Week Hiatus

Hey.  I am back to blogging after a two week Spring Break.  I have  anew blog packet and I'm ready to go with plenty of good stuff for my daily posting.  Upcoming topics include Susan Boyle, the Domino's Pizza disaster, Twitter, viral videos and more.  Stay tuned for all of the new developments.

Blogger's New Features

Blogger has released some exciting new publishing features that are exciting enough for me to write about.  I can now take a picture and send it directly to my blog from my cell phone.  I can also text posts in.  That's obviously not very efficient or cost-effective, so I don't plan to do it, but it's cool none the less.  I can also post video directly to the blog.  This is all very exciting.  Maybe I will begin to use some of these features at some point.

Backing Up Blogger

So, since I have posted so many posts, I thought that it would be best if I backed them up.  I had been thinking about doing that for a while, but I didn't know how.  Luckily, I now know how, and I have backed up the entire blog.

I'm sorry guys.  I've been extremely busy with everything.  I've been working like a dog at the Grosse Pointe News, and wouldn't ya know it, my first article was scrapped. Oh well.  Anyway, I wanted to tell you all that I'm pretty excited to hopefully get back to writing on this darn thing pretty soon.  I'm loving most of my classes, although the grades that I'm getting aren't what I hoped they would be.  I'm a little nervous about the end of first quarter.  It's tomorrow.  I will try to write this weekend, because I don't think that I have a lot going on.  My parents had a party last weekend, so I was totally unable to write then.  Thuis week has just flown by, and I apologize for now writing.  I'm perticularly worried about my co-op grade.  It was a 100%, but it just dropped.  I honestly have no idea why.  I turned in all of my time sheets on time, and I turned in the written evaluation.  OK it was one day late, but that still doesn't explain my HUGE grade drop.  I'm nervous about applying to colleges.  I heard some people talking about getting their acceptence letters back from colleges.  I'm not proud to say that I haven't even applied anywhere yet.  AAAAH.  I hope to start this weekend.  So halloween is tomorrow, and that'll be interesting.  I'll have to watch the house tonight.  I have a feeling that someone will try to egg it or something.  It's Devil's Night tonight.  On another note, have you been following the crazy financial crisis.  This is definately going to go down into the history books right next to the Great Depression.  It's a little odd that this would happen right next to election time, but what are you going to do, right?  God, I hope Barack doesn't win.  I don't like McCain, but I absolutely hate Barack.  I wish that he'd just go back to Kenya, and leave us Americans alone.So for people who have written college essays, I want to ask you all something: How long did each essay take you?  I'm not sure if the colleges that I plan to apply to require essays for admission, but I'm curious about how much time people are spending.  Feel free to leave a comment about how much time you have spent.  I'd be interested to know.  This so far has just been one long ramble.  I don't really think that I'm going to even bother putting this into paragraphs, because it works better as a free thought sort of thing.  I'm really liking these long posts.  I'd better get back to work though.  I have calendar stuff that I have to do, and then I have to go to bed.  I'll talk more tomorrow.

The Visitor Count on the Blog

The visitor count on the blog is pretty high.  I don't know if anyone besides me actually checks it, but at this point, it's hovering above 4225!  I can barely believe it.  I guess that I can when you consider that number is over the course of years.  Oh well.  It would be pretty cool if I could get that many hits in a period of days.

Continuous Posting

I am trying something new.  I am going to be writing everyday from now on and we'll see how it works out.  You should notice a new post up here everyday.  I have more than twenty fill-in posts ready if I am unable to write something specifically for that day.  Some of the fill-ins I will post will be: book reviews, movie reviews, magazine reviews, company profiles, recipes, services that I find interesting and more.  Make sure that you bookmark this page so that you can return to it and see updates every day!
